The Confucius Institute Australia-China Education Fund is dedicated to providing better educational outcomes and a more secure future for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in rural China. This educational development fund is the initiative of Russell Harwood (a PhD Candidate from Asian Studies at The University of Western Australia) and receives support from the Matilda Bay Rotary Club, the Confucius Institute at UWA, the UWA Institute for International Development, and individual donors.

Confucius Institute Scholarships 2009

“The Confucius Institute Scholarship” is established by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Beijing) with the goal of encouraging students and teachers worldwide, who are studying and/or teaching Chinese as a second language, to study Chinese language and culture in China.

The CI at UWA is offering the following intensive Chinese language training
scholarships in the following categories:

  • Short Term: 4 weeks
  • Mid Term: 6 months
  • Long Term: 1 year

Western Australian Government Chinese Language Scholarship

A generous scholarship that provides one student from Western Australia an opportunity to study Chinese at Zhejiang University for two academic semesters.

Sichuan Earthquake Scholarship

The University of Western Australia is offering a student from Sichuan University a postgraduate scholarship to study with Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall.
