Each year the Confucius Institute organises a China study tour tailored for WA school principals and leaders. The aim is to provide these leaders with the insight and awareness to pilot their school community towards a better understanding of China.

I am writing to thank you for the amazing tour I have just been on. This has been a life changing experience with ongoing implications for closer ties to China and a mutually beneficial relationship with the schools we visited. Informed conversation and experiences such as the tour will change perceptions and fears of a global future.

Rachel Power,  Australian Christian College,  Albany  (2018 tour participant)

It was an amazing, mind-blowing trip, thank you. My understanding of Chinese culture is far deeper than previously and I have already been able to help more effectively some of my Chinese parents at school.

Julie Harris,  Guildford Grammar School,  Perth  (2018 tour participant)

Expressions of Interest for the 2018 tour now closed.

Expressions of interest are usually due in May each year. The 2018 form is included here as a guide for those wishing to apply next year.

The 2018 tour was held from the 21 - 29 September with the support of Confucius Institute Headquarters and the University of Western Australia’s partner, Zhejiang University. It was a unique professional development opportunity for school leaders; there is nothing like experiencing the dynamism and scale of contemporary China first hand.

The study tour included sightseeing at historic and cultural spots in Beijing and Hangzhou (capital city of Zhejiang Province), visits to several schools, and participation in the WA-Zhejiang Principals’ Forum in Hangzhou. Participants were accompanied by a coordinator from the Confucius Institute who offered both interpreting and guide services.  A professional tour guide also assisted during sightseeing activities.
