On the afternoon of 20 October, 19 teachers and volunteers of Confucius Institute at UWA joined several hundred other volunteers in the Zambrero Meal Packing activity in Perth Showgrounds. The nutritious meals packed will provide hunger relief to schools and orphanages in East Timor and Madagascar.
Dressed in Confucius Institute red T-shirts, the CI staff was actively engaged in the packing lines: filling and weighing the meal bags, sealing and labelling the packages, and packing the cartons. The venue was filled with dynamic music and everyone worked together happily and efficiently. The packing was completed much faster than expected.
The Confucius Institute at UWA actively participates in voluntary community events, which is a good way of engaging with the community and learning about other organisations and their activities.
