Overview

The Confucius Institute Division of Sinology and China Studies offers scholarships to PhD students in the humanities and social sciences.

The Sino-Foreign Joint Research PhD Fellowship is specifically for PhD students in foreign universities who wish to undertake between six months and two years of study in China.

The PhD in China Fellowship is for Master’s Degree graduates who wish to pursue doctoral degrees in China.

Please note that applicants must have achieved HSK Level 5, and priority will be given to applicants with a higher level of Chinese language proficiency.

The Confucius Institute headquarters will create a personalised development plan for every fellowship recipient. The fellowship includes tuition, a living stipend, a research grant and support for foreign and Chinese mentors.
